Laundry Renovations Gold Coast

Renovated laundry with blue shaker cabinetry, floor to ceiling storage, stone benchtop and a sliding door to the deck

The laundry is the most under-designed room in most Gold Coast homes. It is usually whatever space was left over, with a trough, a tap and nowhere to put anything. Done properly it is one of the cheapest rooms to renovate and one of the most satisfying to use.

Complete Homes has been renovating Gold Coast homes since William started the business in 1985. We renovate laundries as standalone jobs and as part of larger renovations. Either way we treat it as a room worth designing, not a cupboard with plumbing.

What is included

  • Layout and joinery design — bench space, hanging space, and somewhere for baskets that is not the floor
  • Strip out and disposal
  • Custom cabinetry, overhead storage and broom cupboards
  • Benchtops, sinks and tapware
  • Plumbing for washer and dryer, including relocating services where the layout changes
  • Electrical and dedicated circuits, including provision for a condenser or heat pump dryer
  • Waterproofing and tiling where required
  • Ventilation, which most laundries do not have and badly need
  • External door and access changes where the laundry doubles as a back entry

Small room, big return

Because the footprint is small, the finish level you can afford in a laundry is often higher than elsewhere in the house — a stone benchtop across two metres costs very little compared to the same stone across a kitchen. It is one of the few rooms where the good option is genuinely affordable.

Things worth planning for

  • Bench over the machines rather than beside them, if the machines are front loaders
  • A dedicated hanging rail for drip drying, which stops clothes ending up over doors
  • A second sink deep enough to actually soak something
  • Ducted ventilation — a dryer venting into a sealed room is a mould problem waiting to happen
  • Mudroom function if the laundry is your back door, with hooks, seating and shoe storage

Where we work

We renovate right across the Gold Coast — every suburb, from the northern corridor down to the border. Homes we work on regularly include Sanctuary Cove, Hope Island, Paradise Point, Sorrento, Main Beach, Isle of Capri, Broadbeach Waters, Mermaid Beach, Benowa, Clear Island Waters and Tallai, along with the established streets of Southport, Labrador, Ashmore, Nerang, Miami, Burleigh Heads, Burleigh Waters, Palm Beach, Currumbin, Mudgeeraba, Robina, Varsity Lakes and Runaway Bay.

If your suburb is not on that list it does not mean we do not go there. We service the entire Gold Coast.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you move the laundry to a different part of the house?

Often yes, and it is one of the more common requests in a whole-home renovation. It depends on where the drainage and vents can run. We will tell you what it involves before you commit.

How long does a laundry renovation take?

Considerably less than a kitchen or bathroom, and it is one of the easier rooms to live through. Joinery lead time is usually the longest part.

Can we combine it with a bathroom or powder room?

Yes, and in smaller homes it is often the smartest use of the space. It needs careful layout and correct waterproofing, but it works.
