A whole-home renovation is the work we love most. It is also the work that goes wrong most often when it is handed to the wrong team — because it is not four small jobs happening near each other, it is one job with one program, one budget and one person accountable from the first drawing to the final clean.
Complete Homes is a family-owned Gold Coast renovation company, started by William in 1985 and run today by his son Fouad. We take tired, dated or badly laid out houses and turn them into homes that suit how people actually live. We do not build new homes. Renovating existing homes is the only thing we do, and that focus is why we are good at it.
What a whole-home renovation with us involves
Every project is different, but most whole-home renovations we deliver include some combination of the following:
- Reworking the floor plan — removing walls, opening living areas to the outdoors, relocating wet areas
- New kitchen, including joinery, benchtops, appliances and services
- New bathrooms and ensuites, waterproofed and tiled to Australian Standards
- New laundry, usually reclaimed from space that was being wasted
- Flooring, painting, lighting, power and switchboard upgrades throughout
- New windows and doors, including opening up to decks and alfresco areas
- Structural work where the layout demands it — beams, posts and footings, engineered and certified
- Outdoor living — decks, patios and the landscaping that ties the house back to its block
How the process runs
1. We sit down with you
Before anything is drawn or priced, we want to understand the house, the block, how you use the space now and what is not working. This conversation usually happens on site, because the house tells us things a floor plan will not.
2. Design and selections
We work through the layout, then the finishes. We will take you to showrooms and help you choose tiles, tapware, benchtops and joinery that suit both the house and the budget. This is the stage where most of the money is either saved or spent, and it deserves time.
3. Approvals and program
Structural changes need engineering and, depending on the work, council or private certification. We handle it. You will have a realistic program before we start, not an optimistic one.
4. Construction
One team, one site supervisor, one point of contact. You will know what is happening each week and what is coming next. Queensland work health and safety rules restrict access to an active site, so there are structured times for you to walk through — we would rather set that up properly than have you feel shut out of your own house.
5. Handover
We finish properly. Defects addressed, site cleaned, everything working. The last five percent is where a lot of builders disappear; it is where we would rather be remembered.
Renovating around your life
Most whole-home clients ask the same question early: do we move out? There is no universal answer. If the kitchen and both bathrooms are coming out at once, living on site is genuinely hard. If the work is staged, it can be manageable. We will give you a straight assessment based on the actual scope rather than whatever is easiest for us to schedule.

We renovate right across the Gold Coast — every suburb, from the northern corridor down to the border. Homes we work on regularly include Sanctuary Cove, Hope Island, Paradise Point, Sorrento, Main Beach, Isle of Capri, Broadbeach Waters, Mermaid Beach, Benowa, Clear Island Waters and Tallai, along with the established streets of Southport, Labrador, Ashmore, Nerang, Miami, Burleigh Heads, Burleigh Waters, Palm Beach, Currumbin, Mudgeeraba, Robina, Varsity Lakes and Runaway Bay.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a whole-home renovation take?
It depends on scope and structural complexity. A cosmetic refresh across a house can move quickly; a renovation that changes the floor plan, the roofline or the services will take several months. You will get a realistic program at quoting stage, and updates against it as we go.
Do you do extensions or new builds?
No. We renovate existing homes. If your project is really a new build or a large extension, we will tell you early rather than take it on and learn on your house.
Can you work with our architect or designer?
Yes. We are comfortable building to someone else’s drawings, and equally comfortable taking a project from a blank page.
What does it cost?
Whole-home renovations are priced on scope, size, structural work and finish level — there is no honest single figure. We would rather give you a considered range after seeing the house than a number over the phone that changes the moment we walk in.
