That distinction matters: we are not a decking specialist bolting a platform onto the back of a house. We are renovators, so we look at how the outdoor space joins the indoor space, where the doors should go, and whether the threshold works.

The things that decide whether a deck lasts
Material choice for a coastal climate
Salt, humidity and UV are brutal here. Hardwood, treated pine and composite all have a place, and the right answer depends on exposure, budget and how much maintenance you are realistically going to do. We will give you an honest comparison rather than pushing whatever we have in stock.
Drainage and ventilation underneath
A deck that cannot breathe underneath rots from below. Clearance, airflow and drainage are not glamorous but they determine whether you are rebuilding in eight years or twenty-five.
The threshold
The step between inside and outside is what makes an outdoor area feel like part of the house or an add-on. Getting levels right, and weatherproofing them, is where renovation experience earns its keep.
Approvals
Decks above a certain height, and anything with a roof structure, generally require engineering and certification in Queensland. Balustrade heights and pool fencing interactions are also regulated. We handle approvals as part of the job rather than leaving you to chase them.

Frequently Asked Questions
Timber or composite?
Timber looks better and costs less up front; composite costs more and asks almost nothing of you afterwards. If the deck is in full sun and you know you will not be oiling it every year, composite usually wins on total cost.
Can you build a deck around an existing pool?
Yes. Pool fencing compliance has to be worked through carefully, and we will flag anything that needs changing before we start.
Do we need a roof?
In this climate a covered area gets used year round and an uncovered one gets used in spring and autumn. It costs more, and it is usually the difference between a deck you use and a deck you look at.
Can this be done as part of a bigger renovation?
Yes, and it is usually cheaper that way. If walls are opening up anyway, adding the outdoor area to the same program avoids paying twice for access and set-up.
